I open the newspaper to read
reports about rapes, which is growing more and more barbaric and violent as
time moves on. I listen to rape cases which are not reported in the newspaper,
disclosed to none, but poured out to me at an emotional moment as his life
coach. Yes, ‘HIS’. On my regular morning walk I see men ogling at women walkers
in Capri pants and leggings. I come
across real life stories of how new age guys and girls are emotionally insecure
and are being treated like doormat by their partner.
“The society is mean and not safe”,
“Men are nasty and cultureless”, “Women are materialistic and evil”. Of late, these
words frequent my ears. People are quick to raise fingers and hurl accusations and
abuses at the aforesaid men, women and society. As the old saying goes ‘When
you point a finger at someone you are pointing four fingers at yourself. ’ I
have no choice but to ask the feminists, social activists and keyboard warriors
on social media “What have you done to help resolve or at the very least to
ease this situation?” Screaming at the top of your lungs, crying foul, holding
banners and street rallies, sharing anti-gender posts are not even worth the
time you spare to ‘Share’ or ‘Like’ it.
We need to find a solution by going
to the root cause of the problem. We need to start working on the ‘childhood’. A
person’s character and moral values are formed essentially within the first
five years and then these fundamental sets in or is challenged during teenage. Parents
need to be at their careful best during these two age phases. If you are a
parent who cannot spend quality time instilling basic values and human
fundamentals in your child, you have no business raising your finger at someone
else’s failed upbringing. Tomorrow if your child becomes a rapist, emotional
baggage, criminal mind, arrogant you will have no one else to blame but you.
Being a parent is not another household chore like cleaning or cooking. It is a
highly responsible job which every animal that Mother Nature creates knows
through basic instinct. Except in a small percent of cases, I squarely can’t
find any other reason but failed upbringing and improper education for the increasing
number of humans who lack values and culture.
On this Children’s Day my message
is for the parent and teachers of our little ones. The popular adage “Matha
Pitha Guru Deivam" is highly relevant even today - Mother, Father and Teacher
play an important role in the self-realization of goodness within a child. If
you are able to set the fundamentals right, the issues and challenges faced by
our generation will be non-existent for the future generations. Let’s make the
world a better world for our children through them.
“When you have a godly husband, a godly wife, children who respect their
parents and who are loved by their parents, who provide for those children
their physical and spiritual and material needs, lovingly, you have the ideal
unit”. Jerry Falwell
My heartfelt wishes on this Children’s
Day and lots of hugs and kisses to all the beautiful kids out there. Keep Smiling,
